We always want the best professionals to work with us. But how to know if our agent is as good as we want an agent to be?
Here are some MUST BE for a GREAT agent:
1. Must know the local market. When you hire an agent, it's necessary that he/she knows all the rules and terms of the community, local laws, which schools are around, recreational spaces and restaurants. Must be able to provide information about financing options, and what areas are more suitable for the clients and why.
2. Needs to be a great negotiator. One of the most important things of an agent is it's capacity to negotiate. Aggressiveness is not the only way of negotiating. But it's necessary that he/ she has good strategies and ways of negotiating the best price for the client.
3. An agent must have a good network. When an agent has a big network community, everything flows easier and faster. A large amount of people in a network shows they are trustworthy.
4. MUST be a good communicator. The communication skill is IMPORTANT in this business. A mistake or an unclear message can cost hugh amounts of money. A great communicator knows that keeping contact with it's clients is mandatory.
5. Should be flexible, "changes-friendly". A great agent is like a chameleon. He must be able to change when a client's opinion and necessities change. He/ she must adapt easily to changes, since this market moves fast, and the house that was on sale yesterday, might not be on sale today.
6. An agent is there ALL THE TIME, even after closing. An agent finds perfect houses to its clients. A great agent will instruct its clients how to sail the wild waters of real estate. A great agent will be there for its clients even after the transaction closes, for anything they might need.
7. Must know every detail of the business of Real Estate. This is a very complicated business. Not knowing all the corners of it can bring serious problems. A great agent will be able to guide you to the best lender, or knows how to work with inspectors, contracts, HOAs, etc.
8. A great agent must be disciplined, auto-motivated and a problem solver. An auto-motivated great agent will go the extra mile for its client. He/ she will know what the client needs even before they know what they need. Those that know how to solve problems, know how to make a home more appealable for buyers, how to get better prices and offers, when selling or buying.
